Description
KYB SM5209 is a replacement control-arm bushing at the strut-to-arm attachment on the listed Honda Accord and Prelude applications. It renews the cushioning at that attachment to reduce squeaks, rattles and vibration caused by a worn original bushing.
- This is a bushing, not a complete upper strut mount or bearing assembly.
- Two bushings per applicable axle.
- Sold individually.
Match the vehicle year and mounting position before disassembly. The front attachment on later Prelude models uses a different bushing.

KYB SM5209 services the strut-to-control-arm bushing rather than the upper strut mount. Confirm the mounting position first: front on 1986–1989 Accord, front or rear on 1988–1991 Prelude, and rear on the listed 1992–2001 Prelude applications. Support and unload the suspension as directed in the Honda workshop procedure before removing the strut-to-arm attachment. Inspect the fork, control arm and fasteners, then remove and install the bushing using the specified support and tooling for that vehicle. Follow Honda’s bushing orientation, final tightening position and fastener torque requirements. Do not substitute this bushing for the later Prelude’s front attachment or an upper strut bearing.
