Match spring installed height and load to the actual camshaft, retainers and cylinder head. Install the outer springs with their closer-spaced coils toward the bottom, as shown in the supplied instructions.

- Installation: outer springs' closer-spaced coils toward the bottom
Use a qualified engine builder to inspect the spring seats, retainers and locks and measure the installed height and spring loads for the actual camshaft. Use dual springs on intake valves and single springs on exhaust valves. Install each outer spring with its closer-spaced coils at the bottom; the inner intake springs have no required end orientation. Check retainer-to-seal and coil-bind clearance throughout valve travel. Follow the exact 913 instructions and the engine's service procedure.
