Higher fastener preload can change the main-bearing bore. Check bore size, roundness and alignment with the final studs, lubricant and tightening load, and align-hone the block if needed.

208-5401 main studs install finger-tight in clean block threads. Seat the main caps and check for binding or misalignment. Apply ARP Ultra-Torque to the stud threads, nuts and washers. Follow the engine manufacturer's tightening sequence in three equal stages to 80 ft-lb, as specified in the ARP kit instructions. Check main-bearing bore size and roundness under the final preload; any required align-honing must use the same studs, lubricant and preload as final assembly.
