- Recommended installation method: bolt stretch
Check that the rod-cap bolt holes have adequate chamfer to clear the radius beneath each bolt head. Lubricate the threads and underside of each bolt head with ARP Ultra-Torque. ARP recommends 0.0055-0.0060 in bolt stretch; if a stretch gauge is unavailable, its specified alternative is 45 ft-lb with ARP Ultra-Torque. Resize the connecting rods after installing new bolts. Record original free length and replace any bolt with permanent deformation or more than 0.001 in free-length growth.
